One of the founding principles ot the San Joaquin Valley Civil War Roundtable is to raise funds for the
Preservstion of Civil War Battlefield sites. To that end we have worked hard over the past decade.
The total raised to date exceeds $42,500. We have accompished this through monthly raffles, an annual
fund raiser and excess funds generated by the
production and management of six annual three
day
events, namely West Coast Symposiums, featuring
speakers, dinners, raffles , and sales. All West
Coast Roundtables attend
these annual events and
contribute to their success. The last conference
sponsored by our CWRT was Oct.
2009, held at the
Veterans' Post in Clovis, CA., and covering the
theme ‘The Campaign for Chattanooga’.
Additionally,
we received some funds at the annual
Re-enactment at Kearney Park. This event is
arranged by the Fresno
Historical Society.
Our funds are sent selectively to organizations in the
east who specialize in battlefield preservation.
Specifically the Civil War Preservation Trust; the
Friends of Gettysburg ;Friends of
Raymond Battlefield; the Richmond Battlefield Trust ;
Central Virginia Battlefield Trust : the Drum Barracks ; Friends of Civil War Alcatraz ; the Lincoln center
in Redlands ; the Carter House Trust in Franklyn, TN.
